Let’s 'face' facts, for most people our face is our most prized feature. It is the first thing people notice about you. Hence it is important to project an image of confidence. Mr Ivan Foo understands just how important looking and feeling amazing is. Facial Surgery is becoming increasingly popular with those who want to slow down the ageing process. How you age depends of many factors including your genes, skin type, bone structure and lifestyle factors. Smoking and sun damage accelerates the ageing process.
There are many reasons that may prompt you to consider Facial Surgery:
Generally the ageing process affects all layers of the face - skin, fat and subcutaneous tissue, facial muscles and the skeleton. As skin loses its elasticity, creases and wrinkles begin to appear. These are more noticeable along the lines of facial expression (e.g. when smiling and frowning), and around the mouth. Skin laxity is also seen on the jowls along the jaw line and in the neck. The soft tissue layer under the skin (SMAS) is also influenced in the same way and can contribute to the appearance of heaviness in the face.
A facelift is designed to reverse some of the effects of ageing. This is also commonly known as an anti-ageing treatment. The tight overstretched result (wind tunnel effect) is no longer desirable and the emphasis is on a more natural, "fresh and younger” appearance
.
Facial Surgery by Mr. Foo, ensures that once you step into the clinic, you step out looking and feeling completely rejuvenated, fresh and youthful.
One of the main aims of a Facelift is to improve the profile and appearance of the lower face, the jowls and the neck. Wrinkles on the face cannot always be "stretched out" with a facelift and may require additional anti-ageing treatment procedures such as Dermal Fillers and Botox as part of a full facial rejuvenation programme.
A Facelift can also be carried out in conjunction with:
Eyelid Surgery
Skin folds in the upper eyelids causing a hooded appearance and bags under your lower lid can be improved by Blepharoplasty. For more information visit Mr. Foo’s plastic surgery website.
Dermal Fillers and Botox
If you are unhappy about facial creases(e.g. frown lines, crows feet, forehead lines), these can be softened with Botulinum Toxin injections- “Botox”. Nasolabial folds, Marionttte lines (creases running down from the angle of the mouth) are improved with Dermal Fillers such as Juvederm.
There are a number of different techniques used to perform a Facelift, depending on an individual's appearance and requirements. Facelift procedures treating only the skin are rarely performed. For most people, the ageing process also affects the deeper soft tissues of the face and require a repositioning of the SMAS layer (the soft tissue, fat & muscle layer under the skin). There are a number of different ways to treat the SMAS layer and the most suitable treatment will be discussed in detail during your consultation. Book you consultation now via our

Facial surgery is usually performed under general anaesthetic and takes around 3 hours to perform depending on the complexity of the work involved.
A Facelift will always involve incisions and related scars; however scars are mainly hidden within the temple hairline, around the natural margin of the ear and down the hairline at the back or the scalp. Following tightening of the SMAS layer, the skin is then re-draped over the soft tissue, removing the excess (avoiding an over stretched look). Facelift patients will be asked to wear an elastic support/light bandage for one to two weeks and sutures are removed between 5 - 10 days.
Although every care is taken to minimise complications, and most people do not see any side effects, as with any type of surgery there may be some complications that we need to advise you of.
Most scars heal well and are easily covered by the hair and cosmetic make-up. The final appearance of the scar and the result will vary between individuals. There is a very small risk of poor wound healing.
Minor complications:
| Activity | Timescale |
| Make up | 1 week |
| Return to work | 2-3 weeks |
| Driving | 2 weeks |
| Aerobics & sport | 6 weeks |
| Swimming | 6 weeks |
| Massage scars | 2-3 weeks |
| Hair colour | 6 weeks |
| Flights | 6 weeks |
